Nixtra is early

This site is new and run by a very small team. The times below are targets, not promises. There is no round-the-clock cover. If something puts people at risk, say so in the first line of your report and we will look at it first.

How to report

  • Open the report page, or use “Report this pack” on the pack’s own page, which fills in the pack for you.
  • Send the report to abuse@nixtra.tech ([PLACEHOLDER: a real, monitored abuse mailbox]).
  • For a security hole in the site itself, use the security page instead.

What to include

  • The pack (its address on this site, or its slug) and the version.
  • Where the problem is: the gene id, or the part of the description.
  • What is wrong, and which rule of the content policy it breaks.
  • For a copyright or trademark report: what the work is, where the original is, that you own it or act for the owner, and that you believe in good faith the use is not allowed. Add your name and a way to reach you.
  • For personal data or a secret: say where it is. Do not paste the data or the secret into your report.

A report with no contact detail can still be acted on, but we cannot tell you the outcome. [DECISION: whether the reporter’s name is shared with the publisher].

What happens next

  1. Acknowledgement. We aim to reply within [PLACEHOLDER: N days to acknowledge a report].
  2. Removal first when there is risk. If a pack seems to expose personal data or a secret, carry malware, or lead to harm, we take it off the site first and review afterwards.
  3. Review. Otherwise a reviewer reads the report and the pack, then decides: remove the pack, ask the publisher to change it, or decline the report. We tell the reporter and the publisher the outcome and the reason.
  4. Counter-notice. A publisher who thinks a removal was wrong can reply with reasons within [PLACEHOLDER: N days a publisher has to send a counter-notice]. A reviewer looks again and the pack may be restored.
  5. Repeat infringers. A publisher with [PLACEHOLDER: N upheld notices before a publisher is refused future listings] upheld notices may be refused future listings.

What removal means on a static site

Nixtra is a static site. Removing a pack means taking its folder out of the catalog and publishing the site again. After that the pack page and its download file are gone from this site. We cannot take back copies that people already downloaded, or copies kept by search engines, caches or mirrors. We cannot change agents that already use the genome. [DECISION: whether and when a removed pack is also removed from the repository history].

Legal process

This page is a plain description of how we intend to handle reports. It is not a legal notice procedure. [DECISION: with counsel, whether to follow a formal notice process such as registering a designated agent]. Contact detail for the operator: [LEGAL ENTITY NAME], [REGISTERED ADDRESS].

In India, how the Information Technology Act, 2000 and its rules apply to reports and removals is to be confirmed by counsel. Grievance officer: [PLACEHOLDER: grievance officer name and contact, if counsel confirms one is needed].
